Total Truck Spray Case Study
Total Truck Spray are a Manawatu based accident repair company specialising in panel and paint work for the commercial transport industry. Trucks that are involved in accidents are restored to their former glory by their team which includes rebuilding componentry such as fuel and hydraulic tanks and toolboxes.
Tony Poynter started the business back in 1995 and has worked with Roadrunner Manufacturing for several years through the supply of aluminium products required in the restoration process.
He noticed that trucks coming through his doors had tanks and boxes with the Roadrunner Manufacturing seal on them, so he got in touch with Nick Webster, General Manager of Roadrunner to discuss the ongoing supply of those products.
Naturally any existing Roadrunner tanks or boxes are replaced with new Roadrunner products but often the damaged trucks have boxes or tanks which have been manufactured in Asia or Europe making replacement extremely costly and a logistical lead time nightmare. Tony had been impressed by the quality of Roadrunner’s products, so he also began commissioning them for custom builds of the overseas replacement products, he says;
“The quality of Roadrunner’s product is fantastic, if not better than much of the European manufactured product. It’s always outstanding, consistent and I’ve never had any quality issues. With aluminium products, in particular fuel tanks there’s no room to hide any imperfections so it needs to be right first time every time and Roadrunner certainly delivers on that. The Roadrunner workshop has state of the art equipment and that’s very obvious in the quality of their products.”
Roadrunner’s business process ensures that the build sheets and drawing from previous jobs are kept on file which makes duplicate jobs much quicker and more cost effective. Tony is highly complementary of Roadrunners turnaround times;
“In the accident repair industry, a quick turnaround is essential especially for our commercial transport sector clients, their livelihood relies on having their trucks on the road 24/7. Any downtime costs them significantly so it’s imperative that we get their vehicle back on the road straight away. Roadrunner are extremely proactive and aware that we rely on suppliers such as them to deliver on time to not delay completion, they are always transparent with production lead times and go out of their way to make sure a job is complete within timeframe.”
The relationship has now developed into a reciprocal business arrangement with Total Truck Spray carrying out custom paintwork on various Roadrunner manufactured products, it’s an easy relationship built on mutual trust and a shared understanding of industry timelines and requirements.
On working with Nick and the team at Roadrunner Tony shares;
“They are so easy to deal with, I would highly recommend them to others and wouldn’t really consider going anywhere else to be honest. Their process management and customer service is impeccable, and I completely trust them to deliver on their promises.”
